Green Benefits
Greatly Reduced Carbon Footprint
Nutri-Loc’s ‘at-source’ system for processing food biomass has numerous green benefits, including:
- Significantly reduces greenhouse gases by limiting fossil fuel needed to transport raw materials.
- Significantly reduces the amount of potentially useful raw material that ends up in landfills.
- Significantly reduces the steel and infrastructure costs of equipment required to stabilize dry food products due to Nutri-Loc's space and resource-efficient design.
- Creates opportunities to dry raw product that are not currently economically feasible due to transportation costs to access central drying facilities.
- Reduces overall power consumption as the Nutri-Loc® process is 70% more efficient than comparable freeze drying processes.
- Avoids the propagation of volatile chemicals required in the freeze drying process.
Transportability
Nutri-Loc’s modular drying units are easily transported by truck and can be placed right at the raw material source. There is no longer the need to ship fruits and vegetables to a central processing facility at high transportation costs. The convenience of ‘at source’ drying units is helping Nutri-Loc establish alliances with primary processors who are having equipment placed at their sites.
